Ken Mitchell-Phillips of Mitchell-Phillips Law, P.C. was selected as one of seven faculty members at Portland Community College (PCC) to participate in the Business and International Education program (BIE). BIE receives grants from the Department of Education to enhance international business education and to expand the capacity of the business community to engage in international economic activities. As part of the program, Ken Mitchell-Phillips traveled to China in July 2009 for two weeks to explore and gain insight into the business, political, and cultural climate of Oregon’s highest export market. The main purpose of the trip was to allow instructors to develop tools relevant to a global workforce, train instructors to integrate current global trends into the classroom, and support Oregon economic ties to East Asia. Upon return, Mitchell-Phillips will revise his business law curriculum to incorporate lessons learned from the trip and will co-author a book detailing the group’s experiences in China. Ken Mitchell-Phillips is a business law adjunct instructor at the Sylvania and Cascade campuses of PCC.
