Ken Mitchell-Phillips, Sr. Teaches Students on the Increased Role of Finance
in Organizations.

Starting Fall term 2009, Ken Mitchell-Phillips will begin teaching Organizational Finance classes at Concordia University as an adjunct instructor. The course, which starts August 25th and continues through December 12th, 2009 focuses on financial analysis and planning, short-term financial management, and capital budgeting decisions. Students will learn what it takes to make important decisions on how to invest a company’s resources, how to create a complete financial picture of a company using quantitative tools, what it means to be a financial manager and how to take that knowledge into the workplace.

Since the passage of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act in 2002, corporate finance lawyers have increased their role in analyzing financial statements to help their corporate clients comply with the increased reporting requirements of the Securities Exchange Commission (SEC). As a corporate finance lawyer, Ken hopes to educate the students on their increased responsibility to accurately present their assets, liabilities, equity, and income on their financial statements.

Concordia is a private, Christian, Liberal Arts University open to students of any faith. Concordia is accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities and has approximately 1,700 students.
